if anyone has any good inventions or tips for vivs post them here and share with the rest, like.....

using a mob bucket strainer as a light heat cover or using an old ottaman as a basic frame to build a new viv, these are two ideas i've already used, now share yours

I've used a plastic coat hanger with the bottom and one side snapped off as a snake hook. It leaves me with one side and the hook bit.

Does that count?

One 'invention' NEVER to try: do not use a cleaned out 1 litre coke bottle buried in substrate as a hide to see if they like it.
They LOVE it, but you can't get them out without cutting the bottle open.

I found that out the stupid hard way.

Why would you got to all that effort to make a mug tree/climbing frame? Don't they have Poundland down south?

The coke bottle idea is good to make a trap when your snake escapes in the house.

Ok, dont try and glue rocks together unless its something really flat and smooth like slate. It doesnt work! and then if you did want to put them in the viv by themselves after they are coverd in glue which makes them look bad

Good clear plastic storage boxes can be very easily turned into secure critter cages at a fraction of the cost. All you have to do is drill vent holes and put some u shaped screws in to secure it.. nothings getting out of that. Will post piccies when our hoggie house is complete. Any comments on the suitability of this will be welcomed as we may have overlooked something. :)
