During my wanders around the internet I've noticed loads of corn snake hatchlings for sale, but I stumbled upon reptilekeeping.com today and noticed they had just put all the CB07 'hatchlings' online with implications that they keep the snake for a whole year before selling it on.

Is a year old snake still a hatchling? Everywhere else I've looked, 'hatchlings' have been CB08..

How long do most people leave it after hatching before selling on their baby corns? I was initially under the impression that is was about two months but now I'm not sure!

Also, is there a basic size guide? How long would a yearling be compared to a 2 month old hatchling?

And one more thing! Do corns breed all year round in captivity or is there a 'season'?

1.0.0 miami x crimson corn snake (sirius)
0.2.0 leopard geckos (esma and gytha)
2.0.0 emperor scorpions (bebe and jim)
2.0.0 moggies (othello and tachikoma)

No, an hatchling that's a year old is a yearling.

The only difference is that a yearling is bigger and should, in theory, be more established i.e with eating and stuff.

I usually advise getting a yearling because it's a good age I've found. Hatchlings can be a bit funny and clumsy too.

Corns have a breeding season, but there can be two clutches a year. Basically, the summer is hatchling time. You'll only get older ones in winter.

Is it a boy or a girl GP?

If it's a girly snake, we'll do a stud deal with Casper when they are older, make loads of little cutie ghosts

No Gp- nothing stripey.

I think we need to branch out with more unusual males if we want to run a stud

I keep hinting GP, but Lewy is after tree frogs next. He says we can't have anymore snakes until we've got the study sorted to fit more vivs in

They can live in a smaller space, because their terrainiums are tall rather than wide. The bit at the bottom is mainly for the pool of water, as they spend a lot of time up in the trees and branches stuff.

I can't see the appeal really, all that faffing about with hydro-thingymajigs and humidity fangama-doodles for a pet you can't even handle!

Surely his toads are 'froggy' enough
