CAN ANYONE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET MY SNAKE OUT . ive got an adult corn snake an this morning when i woke up i saw he'd managed to crawl through the eye hole of his skull (a plastic thing in his tank), got half way through, and is now stuck. ive really really tried pushing and pulling him through, but no good has come of it. i even tried to break it with a hammer, but as i didn't whack it propperly so not to hurt or shock him, that didn't work either. SO WHAT DO I DO ??????? would be greatfull for ANY suggestions. thank you xxx |

Use some vegetable oil to lessen the friction and try again. If this doesn't work to the vets with him. |

where are you?try the oil and hold the skull up so the snake is dangling down and maybe he might thin out and let gravity do the work. |

Try a shallow bath as well. Corns are amazing at their ability to squeeze into small gaps. One of my females can get squeeze through the doors on my viv. The shallow bath will essentially make them realise how stuck they are and they need to get out. It can be quite tramatic for them, so be carful as well, and use best judgement on how you think snakie is.
Also, when did he last feed? if he fed in the past couple days, then he probably wont be able to come out forwards and you don't have a chance of getting him out backwards. You near any medical centres? Go to a medical centre and buy a circular saw and use that.

I can't remember the proper name for the one i'm thinking of, but it's used to cut rings etc off people. |

I know the one you mean now, it's similar to the ones used in hospital to cut plaster casts off. That should work, but wasn't what I was thinking off.
This was though, a ring cutter: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=225359&C=Froogle&U=225359&T=Module
Putting the bottom edge between snake and eyes socket, then turn the blade down towards the nose edge, or the other eye socket and it'll cut between the resin fairly easily.
Plus it's a handy bit of kit to have around, we used to use one at work for cutting 6mm copper pipes. |

PROBLEM SOLVED thanks everyone for all your suggestions. i tried putting him in a shallow, cold bath but he didn't like it one bit so quickly got him out. in the end we put him on the floor, i held his head and my husband whacked the (resin) skull with a hammer to break it off him. he's fine now, although i think he's a bit traumatised. in reply to you KEHHLYR, he's been off his food for a long time...like nearly a month ! i thought it was because we changed his mice from white to brown. that was all they had in the shop at the time. i changed them back yesterday and he still didn't want to know. never mind. i will persist. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE xxxxxxx |

just shows its not worth having all those stupid skulls and stuff in the viv especially things with tiny holes in coz ur snake will make a go at slithering through them |
