Hi again, just had May out for a bit and realised when she was sliding over my hand that there were definately some lumps in her belly as well as it looking rounded.

She was in a shared viv with Charlie at the pet shop and they are together again now (got them a week apart, and will be seperated within a week or two).

Are there any other signs to look for? She seems very happy to be handled and comes out of the viv without any fuss at all.

Nice one mate, good luck with them. Get the incubator setup early so you can get the temps right for when the eggs go in.

I've managed to get a stat now mike, just finished school and been working at my dads so was able to get an extra one for it, thanks for the offer though.

Where do you live? You really need a stat on the incubator. If you can't control the temps then it may end up killing the eggs. The temp range is 21 to 33 on the eggs, but you don't want to go much over 29 30 as you end up with hot babies, ie, could be deformed and or aggressive.
I have a spare stat, if you are too far I can post to you, all I ask is it stays in good condition and is returned as soon as your done. Let me know.

Fantastic news Jay, you must be relieved that she is going into her pre-lay shed....so the wait will soon be over and hopefully she will lay successfully. And then the wait will begin for the eggs to hatch....all this waiting !

Hi Mouse, No she seems to be getting more active however I can just see a hint of blue coming around the edges of her eyes so we may be expecting a shed by the end of the week. Will keep you updated :)

hows it going? has it settled down yet?
n/a Posted - 29/05/2010 : 09:58:24
Luckily enough half term starts today, so even though I doubt she will be laying for at least a fortnight (haven't seen any signs of going into shed or going off her food yet) It gives me time to make sure everything is ready, gonna spend the bank holiday trying to make sure that the incubator is ready, temps are a little bit of an issue atm because I can't afford a thermostat so trying to find a way to get the temp down a little bit, it doesn't fluctuate too much where it is though, so hopefully I shall find a way XD

Thanks so much for telling us Jay, it is a relief knowing the male is separated and you are all set for the female to lay.

I dont know how you are managing to do all this and make time for exams, revising and downtime! Well done for caring about your snakes enough to be going to so much effort as such a stressful time.

Do know what it is like to be going through your GCSEs so must be extra stressful dealing with your snakes on top of it all.

Not sure how far you have got making your own incubator or whether you did some searches on here, but these links may help.

Hope it all goes ok, with your snakes, the incubator, eggs and exams.

Just an update - Male will be seperated today, and put into a RUB until I have another viv for him.

Female seems happy although is very active, I have made a laying box and am getting the bits to make an incubator today hopefully.

Just have to wait and see how it goes from here now =]
mikerichards Posted - 26/05/2010 : 21:59:30
All you need to do is search for 'incubator' theres loads of threads there.
n/a Posted - 26/05/2010 : 17:09:02
Oh and also in reply to what Mouse said, she has been pretty active and moving all her substrate all over the place, and it gets put in piles in certain parts of the viv.

Thanks for the info folks. Just trying to sort out where I can get a RUB and the male will be seperated tomorrow. Also getting some vermiculite? I think thats the right stuff to prepare a laying box. Any chance anyone could post a link to an incubator thread (sorry it seems lazy this is just all coming rather quickly and im also half way through my GCSE's =|)

Dont worry, each snake is different, one of mine shed then laid the same day, another shed, then shed again, then laid, so its only really a guide, its not set in stone!
