Posted - 10/05/2010 : 12:49:59 I wasnt aware that my female corn was pregnant (gravid??), although I suppose having the 2 snakes together I should have known it would happen! She is approx 3 years ols, about 3½ foot long. He is about 2½ years ols, about 2½ long. But she started acting strangely, i.e. not eating, hardly moving, etc, then overnight 2 eggs appeared last Thursday. Few more Friday, then 5 overnight on Saturday equalling 11 eggs so far. She still has a large bulge so am expecting more egges when I get home today. I spoke to my local reptile shop, and bought all the equipment to make my incubator, large poly box, long heat strip, digi thermomenter, thermostat, vermiculite, tubs, etc. So all the eggs are in the box, set at 82 degrees. Some eggs are nice and plump, others look 'pinched'. How do I test the humidity?
Also mikerichards, if you are reading this, I got your name from Funk off the PH Forum, he said you'd be able to help me out with advice? This is my first experince of trying to hatch Eggs of any kind so I'm quite excited, but understand it may come to nothing!
Any advice, tips, or help in general with the eggs and the snakes would be greatly appreciated!
p.s. Hi everyone!!! |

Posted - 15/07/2010 : 09:37:03 Thanks Guys. Yes, the viv is free at the moment, so I moved the RUBS containing the hatchlings into the VIV last night and its set at 82 degrees. The other 3 eggs that were laid are now on incubation and still look very healthy so fingers crossed! |

Posted - 14/07/2010 : 18:25:45 Sounds about right, they double clutch around the time the eggs are hatching! Just incubate them as normal. You can put the tubs in the viv no probs, as long as they are only 1/3rd covered with a heatmat and the heat mat is statted you will be fine. |

Posted - 14/07/2010 : 17:17:46 They could always hatch, I would try :)
Is the viv you plan on putting them in snake free at the moment? |

Posted - 14/07/2010 : 11:23:34 Hi All. Sorry for the lack of posting over the last weeek or so, been mad busy. Anyway, the 3 eggs hatched and the hatchlings seem healthy - I will def post pictures this week. All 3 have had their first shed, and 2 of them took a pinkie last night, Im hoping the 3rd one will this week. I was thinking of taking the RUB's out of the incubator, and putting them in a spare 2ft viv I have - would this be OK? If so, at what temp should the VIV be set?
Also....the mother laid another 6 eggs last weekend!!!! 3 of them were obviously dead, rock hard they were....but 3 of them are perfectly white and look really healthy so I have put them into the incubator. Whats the chances of these eggs being healthy and hatching? Cheers all Lee |

Posted - 07/07/2010 : 05:27:45 Have only just caught up with the latest news Lee and it is all so good! I bet you cant believe that you have finally got to the stage where you have got little hatchlings poking their noses out of the eggs with their tongues flicking 'ten to the dozen'....especially after everything you have been through over the past 2 months.
Am so pleased for you....and am pleased that we have such great members like Mike and Mouse etc, who are there to help you through it when the going gets tough. That is just what the forum is all about .

Posted - 02/07/2010 : 10:34:41 So, I checked on the eggs this morning.... And there was a tiny head looking back at me from one of the eggs!!! It's little tongue was going ten-to-the-dozen too!!!! I made some holes in the top of the egg container this morning so that if they do hatch, they will have some fresh air to breathe. I have some rubs on standby so will move the hatchlings ot these as soon as they arrive!!!

Posted - 29/06/2010 : 13:25:59 I know the feeling, my amels are due now, but the butters are a week late so I wouldn't be surprised if they were too! That takes me to the due date for the anery motleys then I can see it all happening at once, but it is exciting!! |
