 How do you know when your corn is ready to breed

basically what it says in subject
how do you know when your corn snakes are ready to breed also is there only one time of year they will breed?

short answer:

you don't.

long answer:

you can take an educated guess, breeding season starts around early spring going right into summer so you can put a pair together and see if they mate. If they don't, then one (or both) aren't yet ready so try again in a few weeks time.

A good indicator is when the female starts ovulating and you might be able to feel or see small bumps down her back third.

I personally start pairing after the females second shed of the year (February/March-ish) and go from there, although my lot never seem interested until fairly late in the season.

The best time to breed them is after the female's first shed after brumation. I remember reading something about certain pheromones being present in the shed skin :). I know it worked like a charm for my snakes - as soon as Saphira shed, Jake started chasing her around like mad!

i know that much but what signs does your snake give, when it wants to breed, and what time of year can you breed them?
