The best time to breed them is after the female's first shed after brumation. I remember reading something about certain pheromones being present in the shed skin :). I know it worked like a charm for my snakes - as soon as Saphira shed, Jake started chasing her around like mad!

1.0 anery stripe (Nash)
1.0 hypo pewter (Loki)
1.0 bloodred het amel, charcoal, hypo, stripe 50% phet anery, lavender (Kasumi)
0.1 grey background normal het amel (Saphira)
0.1 tessera het amel, anery, stripe (Lilith)
0.1 amel (Aurora)
0.1 hypo bloodred het anery, charcoal, stripe 50% phet amel, lavender (Mara)

short answer:

you don't.

long answer:

you can take an educated guess, breeding season starts around early spring going right into summer so you can put a pair together and see if they mate. If they don't, then one (or both) aren't yet ready so try again in a few weeks time.

A good indicator is when the female starts ovulating and you might be able to feel or see small bumps down her back third.

I personally start pairing after the females second shed of the year (February/March-ish) and go from there, although my lot never seem interested until fairly late in the season.
