I REALLY would take her to a vets. How on earth they managed to get the eggs out only has images of a tube of toothpaste popping into my head. She needs a full vetinary examination ASAP to treat any internal damage that is likely to have been caused. Snakes dont curl up in a ball looking sick, they can be very active and just die suddenly so you can't take external appearance at face value.

thanks it is hard and im always hearing new things, its put me off ever wanting to breed again, its just not for me,i got corn snakes as they are one of the easiest to start of with and they were upto now, they do make lovely pets as they are so friendly but i know what you are saying and ill update how she goes
gingerpony Posted - 30/03/2011 : 20:43:33
i think myself and mike are more cross at this 'reputable breeder' that has given you rubbish advice, possibly to the detriment of your snakes' health, which may still result in death cos god only knows what this woman has done
i know people are particularly vulnerable when they're learning and look up to and listen to people that appear to know what they're on about. unfortunately it's only when you're armed with a certain amount of knowledge that you can see through these people.

i really do hope she pulls through and i'd be very inclined to take her to a proper reptile specialist vet for examination

how was i ment to know if i had no idea they were opposite sex,i did read up on snakes i do appreciate any advice but as i put i wasnt planning on breeding in the 1st place but it happened and i wont be doing it again i was gonna give the male away after this time as i didnt want her breeding anymore, but as it is now im waiting to see how she goes befor i let male go.
mikerichards Posted - 30/03/2011 : 20:05:03
I didnt mean it as a 'you asked for it' type thing, i meant it as exactly as it was worded, breeding at that age is asking for trouble.
Whether you knew or not, its irrelevant, you should have known. The same way I should have known when i did it 20 odd years ago.
These things happen, its crap, there is nothing we can do to change it, however, we can learn from it.

I didnt slate you, i gave you information, it might not have been what you wanted to hear, but advice isnt always what we want to hear.

thankyou,i know it was a risk but seeing as he is a reputable breeder who gave me both my snakes i put my trust in him,he has hundreds of snakes and fair few reptiles and has bred them for many years, she is stil in a seperate container as i dont want the male to bother her,she is mooching about as i write this,so with everything crossed i can only wait and see,as for the comment that i asked for this as she was young thats very harsh as i never planned on breeding her i never knew they were male and female till he was mating her,ive not has snakes befor so it was new to me,i came onto her for advice not to be slated as i care very much for all my animals, but thank you to all who commented

Oh dear. Hope she pulls through.
mikerichards Posted - 30/03/2011 : 13:47:46
I had the same problem, same solution, same outcome. She's probably going to die, she didnt relapse pushing, she prolapsed because she was forced. After so much time she wouldn't be able to push, the natural stage of pushing is well passed.
It's an almost dead very that internal damage is done.

I gather from your posts she was bred at 2 years old, kinda asking for it really.

thats great news :)

I had a similar incident last year where I managed to get half a dozen stuck eggs out but she sadly didn't make it (yes she also went to the vets before I get flamed! :D )
gingerpony Posted - 29/03/2011 : 20:41:00
wouldn't surprise me if there's more internal damage..........for somebody to get her to pass the eggs that have been stuck for over a week now.....without surgery.....
SexyBear77 Posted - 29/03/2011 : 20:32:05
So has she been seen by a real vet?
sharon1973 Posted - 29/03/2011 : 18:26:36

connorg96 Posted - 29/03/2011 : 18:22:57
bummer about the prolapse but at least she is pulling through
sharon1973 Posted - 29/03/2011 : 17:07:18
hi yes i took her to the breeder i left her over night he managed to get the eggs as she had a blockage, unfortunatly she prolapsed pushing last egg out,he managed to carefully put it all back in and said the next 24 hours were gonna tell if she would be ok,that was 31 hours ago she still quiet but pulling through, only thing is i cant breed from her so i need to sell the male, but just so glad she on the up.xx
eeji Posted - 28/03/2011 : 18:15:31
any news on your girl?
sharon1973 Posted - 26/03/2011 : 19:09:57
ok thanks for both ur advice im still looking for vet who does reptiles most ere dont, rang breeder i got them off he gonna call tomorro,he said good vet at hartlepool and will take her
gmac Posted - 26/03/2011 : 19:06:12
ideally she should have laid them at once or over a day or so at the most as its been a week she is eggbound and may not be able to pass the rest of them herself now, she needs treatment from a vet as matty has mentioned, and as soon as.
sharon1973 Posted - 26/03/2011 : 19:02:35
she is about 3 1/2 this is 1st batch this year, the only one of these eggs empty,i can feel 6 eggs 2 at bottom other 4 further up,how long can they take to lay eggs last year she did it all in a few hours
matty18714 Posted - 26/03/2011 : 18:35:16
How old is she? Has she been bred this season or are the eggs infertile?
