how is it set up and what sort of viv are you using it in?

i think the E-T rainforest ones MUST have an air gap and even come with small 'feet' to raise the flat underside of a viv........

and i think they're ONLY suitable for glass vivs............

Also for feeling the warmth touch it with the back of your hand, will feel a little warmer.

The mat shouldnt feel any more than just a little warm, as it should be set below human body temperature. It will feel warm to your snake though.

You haven't messed up don't worry.

Desert one isn't hugely different, but not as suitable for corn snakes as a rainforest one.

Seems to be hitting the right temp so nothing to worry about as long as you have decent thermometers.

what makes you think you screwed up? and if the mat is connected to a stat it shouldnt get too hot.
