Posted - 21/01/2010 : 12:07:35 There is a topic in DIY section about preparing wooden sticks etc for the vivarium.
Can you use any sticks that you find in a forest etc?
Is there any wood that you cant use?
Thanks

To be honest she is fairly certain she is going to go over her due date, i dont know how she knows but she says its a woman thing, lol.

Posted - 23/01/2010 : 18:33:31 Its the same reason you can't use sawdust or Hamster shavings for substrate.
I'm not sure whether it will ever be safe, I wouldn't risk it myself personally. |

Posted - 23/01/2010 : 18:28:14 Oh dear. Thanks.
Can this sap still be released after the wood has dried?
Cheers

Posted - 23/01/2010 : 18:04:02 The sap in Pines gives off Phenols which are toxic to snakes. |

Posted - 23/01/2010 : 17:34:15 Why do you stay away from pines mate?
Any reason?
Ive just been stick hunting and got a really nice looking piece, similar to one in your photos. It was in a forest with loads of pine trees though, so im guessing its pine.
Thanks

Sorry, no idea what they are. I just stay away from soft wood/pines/conifers. |

They look like just normal branch wood off a tree from a woodland or forest. |
