The little energy savers do still get fairly hot, yes.

The LED ones however do not get hot.

Something like this:

Will be fine.
I believe that some members on here use the LED ones already.

Have you got a step by step guide of how you built it?
n/a Posted - 22/11/2009 : 19:33:39
dont they get pretty hot ??

Just get a small light fitting, with something like an 8w energy saver in it.
You'll still need a guard though, either that or for LED lighting.

(edited for you as well.

looks great, but take the tubes out, they flicker at a rate not noticable to us but can really stress a snake.

You may want to tear that UVB out mate, corns don't need it and it can pee them off

May I ask what the black stuff is on the glass on the top pic?

Nice looking stack, I'd put a vent or two in each end of the viv. To keep air flow good and constant.

it does seem very brght to be on all the time. and snakes dont get any benifits from false light

no its a uvb light 2.0 :) im thinking bout replacing it with a smaller one as its heating the viv up to much unless i get them vents for the back it might release some heat :)
sexychef Posted - 22/11/2009 : 17:44:18
is it a fluresnt(spelling) tube lighting your using there? if so that can be bad for the snakes eyes!
HannahB Posted - 22/11/2009 : 17:39:39
for a viv that size id put at least another vent in or if possible two,
looks really good though

Lovely lookin stack there!

1 vent isnt really enough, both my vivs have 4.
