Hi,

I got my first corn snake last week (he's a CB13 anery), and am a bit concerned about the cool sides temperature.

He's in a monkfield 18 inch terrarium which is heated by a heat mat attached to an on/off stat. The temperatures are monitored by a dual probe digital thermometer and spot checked with a infrared heat gun.

I think I have his warm side temp ok, at the moment it's staying between 27.5 C and 30.5 C on the digital and the infrared is within .5 of the digital reading.

However, the cool side temperature drops to 18 C and never goes above 21 C.

Is this OK or do I need to get this up? If I need to increase it, does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Thanks guys, was a little bit worried as my snake book said it should be 22. But he seems to be happy enough, took his first feed Saturday

The cool side temps are fine. Normal uk house temps are fine for corns. If they get a bit cool they will move to the heat mat side and warm themselves up a bit, just make sure your warm side temps are fine (which they are) and that is all you need to do.
