As many of you know by the amount of topics i put on here i brought my hatchy corn monday, well anyway this morning i was changing his water just as i put his bowl in he came out his hide i thought he was gonna bite me so instead of moving my hand out i left in there for a few seconds to show im no threat so instead of biting he decided to use my arm as a ladder to try escape but as i took him off my arm and put him back in he wriggled off to his hide to sulk. Is this a good sign that hes gaining confidence and trust?

Sorry for the huge paragraph :p

Such a shame he was sold to you by mistake, but great that the pets shop sorted you out with an established feeder
Good luck with the bigger baby....does he have a name?

Well the one they have given me now is abit bigger he shed thursday and ate friday (2 pinkies) so this one is less stressful for me :p

Me and the mrs bought a 12 week old hatchy in december and its only recently we've got him feeding well. It was quite stressful worrying about him all the time whilst trying different feeding methods. I'd recommend to any first time snake owner to get a hatchy who is a little older and more importantly, an established feeder!
Good luck with your new little fella, hope he makes you as happy as ours does now!!!

This one is on 2 pinkies a week atm he ate 2 yesterday so he told me to leave him in his little rub that he came in, is a 48x31x18cm faun to big for a baby corn? He said it might be :s

That sounds like a better deal all round for everyone. Good on the petshop owner for making the offer.

I am sorry to hear that LukeW, but like you said, the little one is going back to be looked after and am looking forwards to hearing all about your new snakey

Popped to the pet shop i had him from turns out he was a shy eater who wasnt actually for sale properly (it was his son who sold it me) the owner had mine back and gave me a slightly bigger one which ate yesterday and shed so gotta wait another week :( but atleast the other one can be fed/get the proper care it needs wich im happy about
Hissyfit Posted - 09/03/2013 : 12:13:24
Try not to worry too much. Some just need a bit more time to settle in. I've had 2 that wouldn't feed to start with, but with time they did eat, and it's a great feeling when it happens after worrying for weeks. I'm sure your little one just needs the full week to feel more relaxed
LukeW Posted - 09/03/2013 : 01:08:15
Just a bit stressed with it being my first snake gonna go buy him another plant for his faun tomorrow :)
Moppet Posted - 08/03/2013 : 20:01:40
It is very common for a snake to refuse a feed when they are still getting used to their new home, especially if the snake is a hatchling so I wouldn't worry yet.
LukeW Posted - 08/03/2013 : 17:39:23
Ive binned it seems he would have rather explore than eat he was just turning his nose up at the pinkie so will try him again monday kinda stressed me abit considdering hes not eating but he seems fine tho like i said as soon as i lifted his hide to feed him he was trying to get out instead of eat the little monster
Hissyfit Posted - 08/03/2013 : 17:20:55
If he hasn't touched it in the next hour or so it's best to take it out and bin it. Don't worry about him not eating. My first hatchling missed his first 3 feeds before he felt ready to eat
LukeW Posted - 08/03/2013 : 13:19:49
After defrosting the pinkie and offering it him, he didnt at all seem interested but i think this may be because he can be shy so ive put him and the pinkie in the warm hide and covered the door with some kitchen towl so its pretty dark in there, gonna leave him in there till later :) or shouldnt i do this?
LukeW Posted - 08/03/2013 : 12:39:47
Just deforsting the pinkie in a cup or warm water not boiling hot :)
Hissyfit Posted - 08/03/2013 : 09:56:54
If he doesn't feed don't worry about it. A lot of snakes won't feed for s few weeks after moving to their new home, so no need to try braining until it becomes a problem. Sounds like he's doing well
LukeW Posted - 07/03/2013 : 18:51:00
Ive read the guide so gonna try my best to see if he will eat tomorrow if he doesnt take it normally will try the hair dryer method or braining :)
Moppet Posted - 07/03/2013 : 18:00:58
That sounds very positive. I would offer him food tomorrow, without getting him out, just to see what happens. Shouldn't do any harm if he's on kitchen roll. If he doesn't eat it, then you would need to throw it away.
