Just tried feeding Ace again but he's having none of it, so tried him with A pinkie incase he just wasnt going for the fluff but no go? Should i just leave it till his next feed day at the weekend then?
On plus side were making great progress with the handling
Thanks in advance! Off to Belfast now to see the Foo Fighters!

Posted - 21/08/2012 : 13:50:19 Assuming this is a new snake, I would hold off the handling until he is eating properly... 99% of the time non-feeding is to do with the snake not feeling comfortable... I'd wait 5 days in between trying to feed. And also, I don't know if you are feeding outside the viv but maybe leave the defrosted mouse on a lid or something in the viv.
Final suggestion: I've had bad luck in the past with defrosting in warm water as it washes the mousey-smell off, therefore maybe try a natural defrost over a couple of hours or whatever, then give it a warm up with a hairdryer, then leave in viv with a towel covering it for that extra-safe feeling.. :)
Hope this helps and good luck with your snakie :)
P.s. I had no idea Foo Fighters were still going! haven't heard anything from them in about 6 years (although i dont listen to pop music so that's not that surprising :P) Have fun at the gig! |
