Just wondering...has anyone used one of these before? I have been researching vivs and the possibility of stacking 3 of them together once Mim, Romeo and Rocco are ready to be moved into more permanent adult homes, or making my own 3 tier viv. I do like the look of these Hagen VivExotic ones but just wanted to know what other people thought?

I have a vivexotic VX36 i think theyre great, when it arrived flat packed i did kinda freaks out as i own no tools but managed to get it put togather really easy with a pen knife! Theyre pretty easy to construct :)

If u are getting a vivexotic, checkout seapets or swell reptiles - will probably be much cheaper ;)

I just drill a small hole at the bottom where there mat will go an put mat wire an probe through there

Thank you, does that mean the cable has to run down the side? Would a heat bulb be better with this Viv?

With wooden vivs the mat goes inside played on bottom.

I am about to buy one of these from Amazon (£61 inc) but I was wondering if there is a gap for a heat mat underneath and if not will the heat get through if placed under the viv?

I'm using a corner in my living room for my snakes and dont plan on huge massive snakes

I wish I could have had Rubs but there's no way I could fit them into my bedroom stacked so had to get vivs, Rubs are far too wide once the get past 2ft long it seems D: Plus if I ever get bigger snake, I can use the vivs for them since Rubs don't seem to be too massive in length. Also means that one day I can get a beardy or bts one day or something ^^

No thats fine as a crawl cay ian't heavy bodied

I'm not saying anything your going to do is wrong, I'm simply saying what I am going to do.

You do what you like

Not just that, if the snake is heavy bodied it is best to use a heat lamp rather than a heat mat :D

Even my small boa, a crawl cay will be in a viv later as they like to climb and I want to give her lots of vines and logs etc
Ailsa Posted - 05/05/2011 : 12:30:07
I know it does Lou, you wouldn't keep a huge big boa in a rub, but i wont be getting huge big snakes lol

Yup rubs are great but it does limit the size/type of snake you can get :(
Ailsa Posted - 05/05/2011 : 12:24:14
I think vivs are great provided you have enough space for them, had my home been bigger having vivs would not be a problem, so stacking rubs suits me perfect
ptmbradley Posted - 05/05/2011 : 12:15:42
At the moment I have 2 corns in a partitioned 3ft viv and another corn in a 45 square ET. Shortly there will also be a BRB in a rub. Ultimately, I'll have 3x 3ft vivs for the corns and (most likely) a 4ft with moisture protection for the BRB. All from Vivexotic so they match. I should be moving at some point in the next 12 months so shouldn't get any more until I know how much room I have left! lol
Ailsa Posted - 05/05/2011 : 12:02:20
Don't think I will have any more than 3 snakes in my collection, though as someone told 3 is an odd number so better with 4 lol
Mamma Posted - 05/05/2011 : 11:59:42
Im only planning on haveing Rocco and Mim as other species of snake... Im gonna add to my corn collection though.
