Just wondering how much it costs you a month to keep your snakes. Sorry if it's a bit too personal but it might be quite interesting to see how much it differs with amount of snakes, ages and other things.

I have 2 adults, 1 is on a diet though so that makes things a tad cheaper and 2 babies. Costs me about £10.20 - 12.20, not including electricity and water.

2 x 1.50 for Jumbo mice
1 x 1.20 for Large mice
About 10 x 0.50 for fuzzies
Clean out for all £1

Ah ok. I wonder why they have both? The co.uk one does't seem to to very popular in search engines.

G.P They seem very cheap to feed the, boa's it's quite surprising.

Electricity for them costs about £4-5 and for anyone whos interested, http://www.ukpower.co.uk/tools/running_costs_electricity/ at. Hopefully the mice cost will go down soon when I buy online in about 5 months time, if the TSM food site comes back up again :/ I suppose about £1.50 to heat one of them isn't bad for a month really.

Aubiose is a hemp horse bedding that a lot of us use (or Hemcore which is supposedly the English version). This thread discusses it -

You can ring the number on their website and find out where your nearest stockist is. http://www.aubiose.co.uk/

no idea of breakdown between Boa, kings, ratsnakes, corns, royals and beardies but round about £30ish, cleanout is cheap a bale of Aubiose about £10ish and does us a fair few months.

mice i think it works out just under £20 on food a month (i think, only think with very rough estimating on what i use)
bedding erm about £4 but will change bedding soon to be cheaper or for the hatchies some kitchen towel.
cleaning not sure as not really thought about it
elec aint a clue

i could easily spend 50 quid a week on food, but at the moment, they are being fed less often, so is about 30 quid a week, not including crickets, locusts and meal worms.

100 Rat pups = £15
100 Small mice = £18.50
100 Jumbo Mice = £25
Big bale of aspen = £8.70
Big bale of Orchid Bark = £10.40

But all this last's me a very long time so it cost's me so little each month but don't know the exact ammount lol.

mikeyd_26 Posted - 18/09/2010 : 12:37:26
6 pinkies per month £2.40
3-4 rat pups per month £1.80-£2.40
£3.50 bag of aspen every 2 months
Stacii Posted - 18/09/2010 : 10:42:44
2 pinkies per feed - so 8 pinkies @25p - £2 (hatchies x2)
1 Jumbo per feed - so 4 jumbos @65p - £2.60 (Anery 07)
1 jumbo every 5 days - so 6 jumbo @65p - £4 (Royal)

Plus bag of aspen per month - £3
eeji Posted - 18/09/2010 : 10:18:31
at the moment with hatchies it costs around £20 per month for pinkies, and around £25 for mice for the rest of them :(

cleanouts are cheap, a few rolls of kitchen roll from the pound shop and a bale of aubiose every so often

plus £15 ish a month for crix and veggies for the beardie
FiestaSTLou Posted - 18/09/2010 : 08:46:40
ususally get thru a bag of aspen each month = £4

4 large mice, 8 small mice and 8-10 pinkies prob = £10

clean out about 70ps worth of rep disinfect lol

cant think of anything else lol
