Hi can you please help me as you all know I'm baby sitting my nieces snake but just tonight i went to get her out for some exercise and she went all defensive and rigid and when my hubby went to get her she went into a strike position why would she do this as she is normally ok and comes out no problem he managed to get her out and now she back to her normal self being all puppy tame....do snakes suffer from time of the month lol

we have been watching her for about 2 month now yes we did the week thing guess she was just having an off day as she much better now thankfully she sitting in her viv pretending shes a bit of substrate she buried herself in it and just has her head sticking out lol

Well like gmac said they are wild animals, animals cant tell you if they want to be left alone so they have to give you signs. Just respect those signs and snakey should be happy again soon! :P

She could be going into shed - a couple of times mine have been grumpy, and a day or two later ... blue eyes.

Or, as has been said, she just didn't want to know. They can be like this. One day tame and the next day, 'do I know you?'

I think everyone has this sort of experience with a snake sooner or later - they just aren't predictable.

We still love them though!

I suppose so guess i'm just use to my babys and royals being active and happy to come out whenever i open there rubs...ho well guess i just have to respect the snakie

she does this because she is a wild animal and not a domesticated pet that can be tamed. she is just letting you know to leave her alone she cant be bothered with anything just now.

Maybe she just got startled - smelling the cats or a fast movement or something?
