i still researching and planning my corn. a friend mentioned that they can be loud during the night.

the only space i have is in my (& my wife's) bedroom. for the people keeping snakes in their bedroom, do they keep you awake or wake you up at all? do you hear them often? is it just rustling or do them bang on the glass!?!

Now with the door on, we rarely hear anything, unless the big girls get out, then entire racks and vivs move, we notice that!
They got a while ago, 4am, I got in there just in time, as the big big girl was underneath the adult corn rack, lifting it up, and it was close to falling off the viv its on!!!!

However, I have never in the time I had had snakes in the bedroom, been kept up by them.

the big snakes get out so they can stretch out next to you while you sleep to size you up..................... blah de blah......

I can imagine just how much mess a big boa can make! :D

The Rats are a whole other story, they get shut away at night. THey could wake the dead sometimes!

i used to have some hamsters and they rustled in the night and ran on their squeaky wheel and i got used to it and they were seriously noisy somtimes, so it'll be fine

Waking nightmare!

Have you noticed they always plan this stuff for the worst possible time - the middle of the night, or when the vet's local surgery's closed, or you're just rushing out, or whatever ...?

Must have just been the hot weather that made Twilight so noisy then. Still, I like him in the computer room. We're in there a lot of the time and whenever I turn around in my chair I find him looking at me. He likes trying to wriggle under the keyboard - he used to fit OK but doesn't seem to notice that he's a bit too big now. Saracen does it too but as he's larger, the keyboard just rests on his back and moves around with him like the shell on a turtle!

All mine are in my bedroom, and they're not bothersome at all. Inface I used to have rats in my room (before I got snakes) and they were 100% more noisy, as were hampsters etc.

:D

I have 4, 2 are babies and don't make a sound. The adults can sometimes decide that they are hyper at certain times of the year and try to dig through their substrate and climb on things and fall off. When you turn the light on to look at them and see what the hell they are doing to make all that noise they kinda stop still like they are trying to blame the noise on something else lol Apart a few weeks of the year, I don't hear them. I do occasionally hear one of my big snakes sneeze too.
gingerpony Posted - 20/08/2010 : 08:37:54
that's a point, the leo is probably the noisiest not the snakes............digging and scrabbling away all through the night!
(he's downstairs now !)

All of my five are in my room and I love it. It's quite relaxing listening to them go about there business.

As I'm a student and off at the moment I sat up til 4 the other morning watching my Royal as she was so active that night :)

I have two in my bedroom and they make no noise what so ever, the only thing that is noisy is my very old light timer!

All my snakes are in my bedroom and I never hear a peep out of them :)

I had one of mine in the bedroom and he was very quiet for the first few months. When we had that hot weather in May/June he started wedging his body against his viv furniture and pushing his head really hard against one of the vents. It made a really loud creaking sound followed by a bang as the furniture moved. It would go on all night and kept me awake for three weeks until I'd had enough and moved him out. I don't know if he still does it or if it was just because of the hot weather.
gingerpony Posted - 19/08/2010 : 15:44:15
we have 8 vivs and 5 RUBs in the bedroom, my snakes are on newspaper and dazb's are on beech chippings, the paper is noisy if you have an active snake but i only really notice them being noisy when they're shedding
ocassionally we hear a thud as one falls off a branch/decor but this was much more frequent and entertaining when i had a royal (oh i DID laugh!! )
the one thing that DOES sometimes get to me is the power/heat lights on the stats..............dimmers and on/off stats are mildy less annoying than pulses!
