Finally got Ezio out for a play today. We rescued this snake a few weeks ago and he's doing really well. He's had a skin-shed, is eating well and seems very happy :-)

I'd say he is about as big around the body as you would want, if he gets any bigger then think about cutting his food down a bit. As he is new I'd be feeding him a suitably sized mouse every 10 days and monitor his weight over a few months, you'll soon get an idea of what he should be eating.

to be honest, an obese snake will start developing fat around the base of the tail, put your fingers at either side and have a squidge around, if its squishy, thats fat storage

he does not look over weight to me but im new ish to snakes.
theres a post on here somewhere about overweight snakes
think the general rule is if they have a bread shaped section their fine

Thanks everyone for your kind comments

@Karakal: Do you think he is too fat? I did read about not letting them get fat but it's hard to tell as we are newbies to any kind of snake. We want a happy healthy Ezio, so here's a pic of him stretched out yesterday. We were at this point waiting for him to poop after no bowel movement for 2 weeks - he's pooped today tho

We're feeding him one medium mouse once a week; which he instantly snaps up.
@scottishbluebird: My wife calls him the snake bracelet LOL
