Hes a very nice amel, as BE says, not enough white around the saddles to be a reverse. Doesnt detract from a very pretty snake though.

When I got him he was about 30" long and a yearling he should have cost £60 but I got him for £40. I paid £110 all in for the snake and the set up which was sposed to include a budget of £ 40 for the snake but I was given a choice of snakes and my littel boy ethan inadvertently picked one that was sposed to be £60 but the rep dealer didnt say anything and let me take him.

if you have a lavamel then you'd know because they're not cheap ;) - unless you got it from a dopey pet shop who don't know what they bought from a dopey breeder who doesn't know what he sold! :D

i think the corns are in on it and are messing us around ;)

Funny that when I scrolled thru ians vivarium I thought the piccy of the lavamel adult was spot on just not quite enough white but then as BE pointed out not enough white on the snake to be an RO
Blackecho Posted - 31/01/2010 : 09:11:38
There's not enough white on there to be RO.

he's a ringer for my new male which i'v presumed was an amel but now been told its reverse okeetee or lavamel....the plot thickens lol
elament Posted - 30/01/2010 : 18:47:29
dont know I am afraid my scales died a long while ago need to get some more. He is about 35" long and about 16 months old
Blackecho Posted - 30/01/2010 : 18:25:48
1 medium every 10 days or so.

Do you know how much he weighs?
elament Posted - 30/01/2010 : 17:10:04
are you saying keep him on smalls and feed every ten as well or every ten on a medium BE?
Blackecho Posted - 30/01/2010 : 15:26:50
Amel, you could try moving feeds to every 10 days.
elament Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:40:29
Thanks hannah I got three smalls in the freezzer when they are gone i will give him another try on a medium. I tried him on a medium some time ago (the guy i got him off in the shop told me he should be on mediums now) but he really struggled with it but that was about three months ago maybe its time he moved up i dont want him getting overweight

Edit-Additional info
Some of you may remember a while back ago I posted on the forum with a white line that appeared down his body and some of you suggested it may be scale seperation due to being overweight. This white line appeared a couple of days after I gave him that medium mouse (what I didnt realise at the time was he was going into shed the following day he went pale)
You suggested to put him back down to small mice and feed him every seven days which I have been doing an d as a result the white line has gone. To be fair he has always been a big snake (body wise)
HannahB Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:35:49
im going with amel - hes lovely
if you are worried about him getting too chunky then you could give him a bigger mouse but extend the gap between feeds to about 10days
Lilpunk Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:30:24
I'd say amel, but also agree with SB xx
elament Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:29:02
One small adult every seven days
SexyBear77 Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:28:16
I wouldn't want him getting any bigger, but he certainly isn't fat just yet.

If you can see his skin through his scales when he is lying straight (not curled up) then he is a little on the chubby side. Whats his feeding schedule?
elament Posted - 30/01/2010 : 10:23:11
Yeah I had a look on Ians viv but there are a few that has his traights so I cant make me mind up. Not that it matters I am just interested. Also when my freind dropped off xena he mentioned how muscular colin is. Do you think he is overweight? I was looking at him last night and if you cut him in half he is defo arch shaped which is how i thought he was meant to be

cheers

steve

I'd go for amel, possibly reverse okeetee due to the white banding around the saddles.
