Posted - 01/02/2013 : 17:37:18 I think that ceramic guards are usually a bit bigger/longer than a standard guard but I use a standard guard on my 150W ceramic and there in not that big a gap between the bulb and guard at the bottom and I can hold my hand on the guard without it burning. You can see how close it is here

What type of stat is it? Most people use a pulse stat with a ceramic or a dimming stat. Even an on/off stats can be used. On/off stats will obviously continuously turn the ceramic on and off so the bulb will not last as long and the temperatures will fluctuate a lot. Best to use pulse or dimming. Remember some dimming stats have a minimum of 40w. But with a viv that size you would need a 150w ceramic anyway.
it is a 600w dimming habistat so a 150 ceramic would be ok ?
Yes that stat will be fine for 150w ceramic. Be careful with the guard though. Some guards are designed to be used with light emitting bulbs only and if you use that sort with a ceramic the guard itself will become very hot.
Looking forward to some pics |

ok ty exactly what i thought i had read somewhere |

How old, what size is the boa? I would add another hide and possibly a larger water bowl depending on size of snake. Make sure the ceramic is guarded, but I guess that the light has a guard so it may be suitable for a ceramic depending on type/size of guard.
she is around 3.5 foot 1444 grams and around 2 years yeah i have another hide extra large exo and water bowl large ceramic dog bowl coming tomorrow and the bulb at the mo is gaurded |

Posted - 01/02/2013 : 14:46:24 I would personally swap that bulb for a ceramic bulb so there is not a light on 24/7 |
