Posted - 04/04/2010 : 20:13:14 Hi all.
Just fed my new cornsnake for thr first time, relieved she took the small mouse first time with no trouble. I know they are in active after feeding, but she has hardly moved in 3 hrs. is this normal as i can find no detail on the web site.
Thanks all

Posted - 17/04/2010 : 16:58:35 Thank you for your kind comments, and i agree she is beautiful and my wife is coming round slowly... except where feeding is concerned, and the frozen mice in with the fish fingers were a bit of an issue.!!!
I was up late last night ( about midnight, but i get up at 04:30 to go to work so it was late for me!!) And when i checked Marge she was really active, much more than most of the day. Although when i handle her she is quite wiggly. It was nice to see her exploring and not hiding.

No need for the thanks Glyn, that is what the forum is here for .
Dont worry too much about her staying in the cool end, she does have a choice as to where to go and she obviously has chosen there at the moment. The only thing you need to check is that the temp in the warm end is not too hot....no higher than 29.5oC. How are you measuring the temps? Hopefully you will have a digital thermometer in the warm end at substrate level as the dial ones are virtually useless. As long as the temp is ok then I dont think there is anything to worry about. If it continues you could swap the hides round while you have her out, see if that changes her behaviour....as it may be that she has a favourite hide.
It could very well be that she was looking at something when she was moving her head from side to side or, more likely, smelling something that interested her and she hadnt smelt before....which is why you hadnt noticed the behaviour before. Wait and see if it continues to happen, you will soon learn what is 'normal'....or as 'normal' as a corn snake ever is !!

So glad you were able to get pics of Marge up - photobucket isnt the easiest thing to work and they have recently changed it to make it even more complicated....either that or I am just more computer-challenged than I thought !!
She really is beautiful and looks very happy being handled.

Posted - 13/04/2010 : 14:37:03 There is a software that helps to measure your snake, a few people on the forum use it but i have never used it myself so don't know what it is like.
She really is a pretty corn, might be worth resizing your pics though if they are that big, the pic dosn't fit onto my screen properly so im guessing it won't fit on for atleast a few others either.
If you click edit on the pic then click resize at the top, replace the largest number with around 800 and then the smaller number will recalibrate itself giving you a smaller but still properly proportionate picture
Edited to add - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8968
If you follow the link you will find the snake measuring software. |

Posted - 13/04/2010 : 14:08:24 Cheers mate
She is 26 inches long, it proved tricky to measure her. The 18 inches was a poor guess.
see if this works

Posted - 13/04/2010 : 13:28:41 In order for the pics to show rather than just the link you have to put img tags in. There is a little pop up when you hover over the pic in photobucket. you can copy the link from there and it will appear as a picture here.
I tried to show the image tags but it didn't work so lets see if this does, at the start of the link you need to have [*IMG] and at the end you need [*/IMG] just remove the stars
You can get thumbnail pics in your sig by resizing them on photobucket and putting the link in your profile under sig or signature.
Thats a nice snake you have there mate, looks a fair bit longer than 18 inches though. |

Posted - 13/04/2010 : 10:52:15 If you upload your pics to photobucket.com under your uploaded pic, they'll give you an image link.
you can copy/paste it onto a 'post' on the forum. :D
Hope that made sense! |

Posted - 12/04/2010 : 23:05:44 Hi all
Just a quick update, fed Marge for the secound time yesterday with no problems at all.
also happened to be in the area of the shop i biught Marge so i stopped in and asked what she was feeing on and just to make the subject evem more confusing the shop sells very small mouse, med small mouse and small mouse. Apparently Marge is on very small mouse, anyway she ate it ok.
I have noticed she seems to spend large amounts of time in the hidy hole in the cooler end of the tank, i thought she would be spending more at the "hot" end.
I have been trying to upload pics but have not managed it yet, the instructions dont seem to match the web site, has any one got a idiot proof set of insrtuctions so i can show off Marge to you all.
Thanks all
