Hi everyone!

I have just bought my very first (corn) snake and I'm totally excited! His name is Henry and I assume he's an adult as he's about 4ft long, very powerful with good muscle tone and is incredibly active when he's out and about. Lovely clear eyes, healthy and drinks well. His first feed isn't (with me) isn't until Saturday, but I will keep you posted about how he fairs. I'm also thinking about buying a rainbow boa once I've got a lot more experience under my belt and am planning on getting a custom built viv for him or her. I am also taking delivery of a Pokie Metallica tarantula on Friday and I'm VERY excited about that too! I look forward to being an active participant in this forum and will welcome any suggestions and advice you're happy to share!

SBB there is NO NEED to sell/return the viv as you well know - it will come in handy for the inevitable next one as long as it's a smaller snake :P :P :P

Only joking - it would be good to see if you could get a refund from the shop as it was an inappropriate size they sold you.

I take back my comment, keep it find something like a hognose to put in it

I am definitely interested in a hognose! They are GORGEOUS!

Do it!!!!

As soon as I get a bigger viv for Henry, I shall go on the prowl for a Hognose! I can't wait, now! Hehe!

Thanks guys! You're all so helpful! I'll keep the viv, as I do want another snake (already, hehe!). And Henry's gone into blue! I picked him up last night and saw he'd gone a grey colour and his eyes are cloudy, so I gently put him back into his hidey hole and he's curled up ready to shed. He's such a gentle boy. I'll have to use my iPod to get some pics as my camera is in repair right now. Once he's had his shed I'll get you some pics.

As for the spider...I'm still awaiting her. She went through a moult just prior to dispatch and obviously the spider's welfare must come first. But she's due this Friday. Pictures will follow, I promise!

I bought Henry as an adult. He's about 4.5 ft long and he's the most placid, gently snake I've had the pleasure to hold. No regrets! I assume his about 3-5 years old going on size, but please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm taking him to the vet in two weeks, so I can confirm his sex and make sure he's doing well.

You're a great bunch here and I look forward to contributing and showing off my pets!

Or a male house snake? 2ft would be great for one of those

*sigh* another pet shop giving bad advice.

Is there no chance of returning the viv as it was their fault for selling a small one? might be a chance since you want to buy a bigger one?
If not, you could advertise it here or on the darkside (RFUK)
