Why is it whenever we go to a rep or pet shop they always assume its my husband thats interested in reptiles? And people on other forums automaically assume that its a bloke posting? Is it really that strange for a women with out tatoos and body piercings (not implying that all other women have these) who dresses smart casual, has brown/auburn hair and two teenage boys to be interested and keep snakes and lizards? Maybe its silly suffolk for you  |

It would seem I am a stereotypical snake owner, male with tattoo's and a couple of ear piercings! I do dress fairly smart normally and most people tell me I don't look the type to be covered in tattoos!
Although I do have minimal say in our reptile purchases in or house, my OH and 6yr old daughter make most of the decisions! When we get our corn snake next weekend I will probably get no say in it! |

That's made me totally lol! I'm female, no tattoos but nose & ears pierced. I have only met a couple of other snake owners and they were women.
I am however sure that red riding hood is not a natural blonde!

If i have OH with me anywhere near reptiles/snakes everyone knows its me thats interested as he spend the whole time giving me the warning look that means 'no way!!!!'
Maybe why he's still so hacked off with me for getting Ace?? Waited till he was drunk at Download and told him over the phone lol
Anyone else hasnt been that surprised that l got him, think they all just think l'm a bit odd.
Ahhhh well better than being the same as everyone else! And setting the kids a good example!!!

Im slightly speechless at Red Riding Hood....
I tend to get one of two reactions, people are either surprised I have a snake, or surprised Ive only got one! saying that though, the couple of times Ive been in a reptile shop, they assumed I was buying for my boyfriend :/ |

i agree we are judged here by our love of our snakes not age gender looks abilities etc and no one cares if we are in our jammies or our suspenders !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Hi although i am the one who joined the forum both my wife and me enjoy are snakes equaly, it is noticable when we go to reptile shops most owners presume i am the interested party and my wife is there because i am. Thats when i let her do all the talking catch them of guard and go along with whatever she says.
The great thing about this forum is its the passion for snakes and other reptiles that gets us together without any gender issues. |

im a 15 yr old girl, only got my ears peirced once, sort of a nerd, unusual dress sense, why do people think its impossible for me to be in to reptiles? |

I've recently started to go to a reptile meet and I'd say theres as many women as men that go. Theres a great mix of ages and different types of people as on here.....although I haven't seen any cross dressers lol.
