Strange question maybe but what's the best way to measure your snake? I haven't had much success in getting her to get her straight enough to get a fairly accurate measurement!

well people ask and its nice to have a rough idea. "how big is your snake?" hmm big. or long.. i prefer to say about 4'10" or 5ft ish.. nothing to be so precise about.

because it works. unless u really are so precise about precision. should it matter? obviously for a vets etc yes but for yaself? im happy its alive and well and growing :D
you could always freeze ya snake to stop it moveing
but itll be right annoyed when it wakes up

an how do u calculate how much to add or subtract from the shed due to stretch when fresh an shrinkage when dryed within an hour of the shed?

a shed can be as much as 10% longer than the snake it came from, thats 3cm's for every foot of snake. which on a average 4ft corn equates to 12cm. so not too accurate by my standards

I just used the snake measurer for the first time, and it seemed to work very easily - but I did resize the photo before I uploaded it. 2 separate photos gave very similar results.

Currently, to measure AURYN, i wait for him to start making his way around the edge of his home...when his tail is at a corner i see where his head is and then measure that distance with a good ol' Christmas cracker measuring tape

I did have it working but seems to take an age to load the image. So now I just do a quick resize to about 1500 pixels and it's been working fine. Not overly better than the original but I do prefer it.

...reading the instructions! lol
wood11 Posted - 29/09/2011 : 20:34:00
Thank you for that. I have used the markers to mark out the snake but then I am stuck! what do you do next?
kdlang Posted - 29/09/2011 : 19:53:52
Use the snake measuring software. This is the link to the original

See if you can lay out some string besides her when shes fully stretched, then measure the string.
wood11 Posted - 29/09/2011 : 19:36:20
