I have dont research on the viv size like a 6ft will need at least a 4x2x2 but i was just wondering what other people opinion is as to wether they this that is still small
gingerpony Posted - 30/03/2011 : 10:35:00
depends on it's expected adult size.......? (ie. locality? dwarf?)

my adult Dums will never need anything bigger than they're in - a 4'x2'x2' each - as they're a very sedentary species that don't appreciate a lot of space

my almost 7ft BCO cross is cramped in a 4'x2'x2' and should be in a 6 footer at least as she's a big, active snake

So it's a BCI?

Surley part of your research would have been to find out what size viv you will need for it once it's fully grown.

Have a look online at some caresheets. I have a dwarf boa, a hogg island boa and a rainbow boa, all need different things. I don't know how big you will need for a BCI.

So many different opinions lol roughly what viv size would you need for an adult male common boa?

Hang on, is it a BCC or BCI? or is it a dwarf ?
gingerpony Posted - 30/03/2011 : 10:25:24
keep it in a RUB as long as you can.......I've got my 3 smallest boas in RUBS, it's practical
the adults are all in vivs though

yeah im aware of that the person im buying it off said to keep it in a 64l rub for a while as thats what he's got it in so would you say to put it in a viv then or will a rub be ok for a while?
Invalid User Posted - 30/03/2011 : 10:18:27
You couldn't keep it in a rub anyway as you can't use heatmats once they get bigger.

Infact at 3ft it will be quite heavy so a heatmat may not be a great idea for much longer due to the risk of thermal blocking. A viv would be better with a heatlamp but having done your research I'm sure you are aware of that.

Its going into a 64l Rub as its only 3 foot then once it outgrows the rub which wont be long i will be building a 4x2x2 viv hoopefully i would keep it in a rub but they dont do one big enough lol

I have different types of snakes in a rack and they are all fine.

Congrats on the boa. What will your setup be like? My boa's are all in rubs right now but are pretty small.

Ooooh exciting stuff! Not long now!! Im not sure if they will feel uncomfy with other snakes around, but they will be in seperate vivs so all should be ok. Piccies once you get your boa
