Anyone else terrified by spiders?
Last night I was peacefully watching Zack and Miri (om nom seth rogen)
and all of a sudden out comes a hairy beast of a spider, just sitting in the corner of my room waiting to get me.
So I sit on my bed watching it's every move too afraid to sleep or even blink!
THEN , BAM! ANOTHER one came running out my wardrobe Dx!!! it was the biggest , most evil horrible looking spider I have ever seen.
So, I flew out of my room and had to sleep down stairs. (and cried a little from shock )fml.
I'm too scared to even squash them/throw them outside

Anyone got any tips of getting spiders out? Someone once told me to put conkers in the corners of your room to stop them coming in...lmao

I was meant to go to phobia classes, but I was too scared

Ah yeah a tarantulas shed must be so impressive! Will have to youtube that now!

House spiders are fine, we've currently got one living in the corner of the bathroom. I think I'll call him Dave too!

My girlfriend has a pet spider living in the wingmirror of her car! She used to have one in the top left of the windscreen but he dissapeared one day

ma mums tarantula's never get held for that reason plus i think it damages their hairs aswell (not that your catch me holding one anyway)

i have to admit though thier moults are amazingly freakingly realisticly reall its scary have only got one perfectly good moult from a spider though if there is any takers that want to see one :) but yeah they get a bald but, then like go upside down crawl out there skeleton type thing and wala a new pretty bigger spider (providing it goes right) :D (kinda thing at which point i run cos there is like 2 spider type things in the tank, but have held a molt feels weird)

oooh don't throw them out the window, a lady at the zoo told me that spiders are surprisingly delicate and that they can die from a big fall :(

Yeah there abdomen explodes from the pressure. Thats why i get funny about people holding Dave.I've never heard this thing about them getting stuck on there back when they shead, but their shead is far more impressive than a snakes, they shead their fangs and everything!!

yes they will eventually, the guys at the tropical zoo in middlesex where telling us about it, they shed, and if they go on their back when they shed they cant push themselves out their old skin and it eventually gets so tight it kills them :( same with scorpions i think :(

I think you're right.
Sorry guys I have to admit, I do get my stepdad to kill them.

About the falling from heights thing, if you drop a turantula on its back it dies I think. I couldnt kill a turantula, I actually see them as animals worthy of nice treatment. But normal icky house spiders should just not exist!! I'd rather have a fly or two!

although sadly having said that im fine with mums ts its just when the lids of i start worrying a lil more. o and the black ones always freak me out grrrrr :(

but i can safely say i have never intentionaly murdered a spider as my mum gets them out ma room even though she thought it would be a good idea to leave a huge brown ish coloured spider in the dining room grrrrr but still she doesnt like bee's/wasps im not so bad about them :)
o remember one time me and a mate moved down to devon for our new job anyway had to live in a caravan whilst our flats were being built and well this caravan hadnt been cleaned in weeks so me and mate started. i started in my room started hoovering the cobwebs but thought ooo im lucky no spiders.... untill...... this huge black spider (no joke it was really huge) fell from the curtain and onto the hoover erm long thingy (to help reach the ceilings etc) and well i screamed mate came running in omg whats wrong melissa.... erm there is a (to rude to say) spider on the hoover thingy... she runs away (yup thanks) and well the spider had gone onto (cant remember what it was) but part of the hoover and that went out the door complete with spider which i saw scurry of towards the back. omg the joys of working with horses sometimes grrrr

na well i might get over ma fear one day... maybe :)

I wouldn't say I am afraid of them but I am wary of them.
drchino Posted - 16/09/2010 : 22:41:12
oops! I'm on the 3rd floor too! I'll brush them out into the gutter next time!

I love spiders! Always have and always will, hence why I have a tarantula!!
Sammysnake Posted - 16/09/2010 : 19:07:52
Best way to deal with spiders is marry a roughy toughy man who can catch them for you (or a woman if you're a man or whomever takes your fancy - you get the idea). I always need proof that Mike's really got it though - I hate the times when he says 'oh it got away but it's gone now'. Yeah, right, whatever!!

Before I was married I used to hoover it up, scream and thrown the bit of the hoover in my hand away as it got sucked up and then sellotape over the end of the tube and leave it for a week to make sure the spider was really dead!!

moths... dont get me started on moths! they are just as bad! with their big flappy wings terroring me as i walk to my front door!

I thought i had broken my toe the other night! I work for ann summers as a rep (quick plug - if anyone wants a party or wants to buy stuff let me know HAHA) but anyways! I had about 10 friends over for one at mine, as i was sat on the chair with a (big long toy) in my hands my friend interupted my discription on it and said "ermm lou dont panic but theres a spider on ur leg!" so i paniced!! jumped about like a idiot kicked my foot onthe coffee table, then lukcily my friend saw it run off, i was seconds away from taking my trousers off! haha i hate them that much! but omg the pain my toes swelled and i had pushed all my toe nails back :( and the embaressment.... lol see if it was a tiny thing i would have been fine, but i live near fields and my house gets full of huge flesh hungry ones when they plough them... i was actually in tears...

anyone else got any embaressing spider stories? lmao

Would this be the wrong moment to mention that statistically in our lifetime each of us will eat on average eight spiders while asleep.

I hate spiders - just had to throw one out because the dogs just stare at it instead of eating them like normal pets

As for the conkers, apparently its true, my granddad does it and he swears he never gets spiders, also uses pine cones around the skirting boards, their bedroom looks like a flamin squirrels larder lol
drchino Posted - 15/09/2010 : 23:26:36
Not heard that one before, my gran always told me it was bad luck to kill them though. I tend not to kill any insects that come in the flat other than wasps and mosquitoes, most times I end up making friends with random insects that come in! I had a moth sit on my arm for most of the night while I was sitting on the pc!

I wouldn't worry about spiders holding you back from travelling rachiepotatoe. I barely saw any spiders in Thailand except for a couple of golden orbs in the jungle and even then we had travelled quite a way into the jungle. The ants are the only things to watch out for! Oh and centipedes... I got bitten by one of those and my god it hurt soooo much!

Oh I miss Thailand now saw so many cool animals and insects! They even had asian water monitors just chilling out in the parks there!

I awoke the other week to find this guy creeping over towards my bedroom! I'm not too fussed about spiders though so I caught him in a pint glass to get some pics and then threw him out the window.

This huge monster is straight out of my nightmares. My usual one is waking up convinced its in my bed. Have to turn all the lights on and strip the bed before sleeping on the sofa instead.
