After searching Youtube for corn snakes eating out of interest i cant belive how many videos there is of people feeding their snakes LIVE mice!
The annoying thing is that it all seems to be for entertainment. After doing alot of research into feeding i have come to the conclusion that live feeding is ONLY acceptable as a very VERY last resort to a snake not eating, and must only be done when all other techniques have been tried. It just riles me that 75% of the videos at people feeding live. I just think its very cruel and inhumane.
Sorry rant over. |

Although I agree with you that a lot of the videos on youtube do seem to be live feeding for entertainment I think that it is unfair of you to say that " live feeding is ONLY acceptable as a very VERY last resort to a snake not eating". Some people do choose to feed live but they do it for the snakes benefit not their own.
Live feeding always has been and always will be a topic where everyone has their own opinion. Personally I am neutral to it, as long as the people that do choose to feed live do so in a way safe to the snake and not for their own entertainment benefit then I personally do not have a problem with it. It happens in the wild so theres no reason not to do it in captivity. Provided, as I said, it's not for entertainment. |

You will probably find that many of the videos of live feeding are taken in North America where laws are different and it is common practice to feed snakes live prey wether it be a fuzzy mouse or an adult rat.

And its normly because they will not feed on defrosted mice so if the beneift of feeding live is that they actually eat it then it is a last resort. |

Yeah theyr'e mainly yanks.. The snakes would do it in the wild, but then something could go wrong. Live food isn't neccersairy, less stress for everyone feeding D/F, the law in the UK states it CAN be done but NOT to an open audience if you get me, and shouldo nly be used if your snakes near death through starvation and live maybe the last option to kick start him feeding again, I prefer a dead mouse over a dead snake, not that I wish death to all mice but in that hat situation |
