How do people do this? I was thinking of going out for a walk later and having a look but I am by no means an expert on branches or trees for that matter, and would be worried of picking up something which could be toxic/bad for my snakes. I know there aren't any coniferous forests near me so theres little chance of picking up pine, but I know there is a wide range of other trees and plants that can be harmful to snakes.

Advice anyone?

As long as you stick to hardwoods you'll be fine. Just avoid Pine/Fir/Conifers and Cedar.
