Hi guys and gals,
Im on the look out for a new phone and not being a gadget geek have no idea on what to get.
I know everyone keeps saying iphone, iphone, iphone but is it really that good.?
I mainly txt, take pic's and play games. Very occasionally surf the net and never check emails on it.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions for what it must have on it, as I dont want it to be out of date in a few months cos I didnt get the right software etc.

The iPhone is good, but if your like me and like to take pictures its pretty useless with its 2mp camera.
I have the Sony Ericsson satio Vivaz and i've never had problems with it. Its full touch screen (So may anoy some texters) has a 8.2mp camera which takes some pretty clear pics and records video in HD.
It also has Wifi so you can come on TCS when you can't be bothered getting the laptop 
It can be a little hard to navigate at first if your used to old Sony Ericcsons but dosn't take long to get the jist of it.
Only downside for me was that it didn't come with any games, although these canbe bought on the vodafone website by either going on your laptop on on your phones WAP.
Not sure how much it is as mine is on contract but i think its around the £250 mark. |

i do hate to say this because i hate iphones/pods/pads but if you want something easy to use set up with in mins than that is the one but if you are looking for a camera phone for reasons other than facebook/forums ie. printing the pic out dont bother with the iphone.
alot of phones at the moment are all the same on the inside, like the nokia x6 is the same as sony ericsson satio. nokia n97 is sony ericsson vivaz.
all the samsungs work the same as each other. with a few exceptions.
if you havent got a mind for tech dont get pulled in by the nokia n900
as for HTC's i have never played on one so cant say
danny the satio doesnt record in HD, the vivaz was the first sony ericsson to film in HD |

It will be contract phone and I was told I can have any really for £25 a month free, except the iphone which will be £45 pm and the X10 will cost me £50 to buy initially.
What is this android thingy ma bob..?

as for operating platform you have the main choices of
Symbian OS (many veriations mainly nokia, samsung and sony ericsson)
andriod OS (many veriations HTC, and some samsungs and sony ericsson)
BlackBerry OS (many handsets all pretty much the same only blackberry)
ipone OS (iphones only) |

I meant the vivaz.
I had the satio but had lots of problems with it and got the vivaz as the replacement  Just edited my post then. |

| yeah i have heard alot bout the probs with the satio i had its younger brother c901 and it was rubbish. i would like to use other words but the swear fillter would have a feild day |

I had 2 satios and both had problems. The main one was that it was so slow and would often crash. There were also several times when it wouldn't read my memory card.
Apparently they've took them off the market now and the vivaz was its replacement.
I think the software that they used on it just wasn't good enough to cope with the amount features. |

I hate touch screen phones, can't use them.
I hate the iPhone too, too expensive for what it is IMO.. iPod touch has all the features besides the actuall phone, i think the only difference is the iPod touch hasn't got a camera and can't text or call anyone. I got the ipod nano, i think theyr'e easier to use than the MP3 players and the music quality is perfect.
my step mum had one and it broke within 3 weeks.
I got the sony erricson w595. good phone easy to use cameras a littlepoopbut getting a 12mp camera for my birthday so all is good.  |

If you're considering an iPhone I'd hold off making a decision until after next Monday when they're probably announcing when the new iPhone will be released (and iPhone OS4)
The current 3GS model will also probably drop in price. |

I had also heard a new iphone was due out so may wait and see what that is like. Also heard there are afew new samsungs due out.

Nuuu not iphone T.T you'll become one of tose annoying people that are always on them if you get one and always on facebook XD
I don't know much about phones, I haven't gotton one in 5 years. So long as it can text I don;t care though I think I might have to get a new one since I shomehow snet a saved dirty message to my mum that I got from someonone when I know for a fact I know I asked my mum about tea :/
Plus as well apple stuff can sometimes not be freezy, my friend has a iphone and sometimes the touchscreen doenst respond,none of the buttons do either :/ it would be fine if someone would fix it but 02 nor apple will take resposinbitlty. |

I got my free 02 sims today, top up a tenner, get 300 free texts, the £10 credit and unlimited internet.
Better than my vodafone freedom pack, buy a ten pound one get 300 free texts and 100 minutes, thats all!  |

I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and its the biz! Only has a 3.2 MP camera but actually takes some great shots (just take a look at some pics ive posted on here as they are all taken on it). They do take some getting used to as it has a full qwerty keyboard and can be fiddley at first but apart from that its great!
I get all my e-mails, Facebook, Twitter, Internet browsing pretty much anything! Id never look at another phone again! As long as theres a Blackberry out of some shape or form i'll always have one from now on!
I cant get on with touchscreens, i had a Samsung Tocco before my BB and it was the biggest pile of poo ever! i went through 5 because they all had some form of problem.
My advice Blackberry all the way baby! |
