When I checked on my snakes this morning I found that my female had laid eggs - a little earlier than I had expected!!

It is her first batch and she laid 8 and so far they look ok - fingers crossed!

I set them up in an incubator with vermiculate and a thermostat etc.

Here is a photo of the eggs :)

I am also posting another topic with regards to finding out the morphs of my snakes - please have a look and try to help if you can!

Thanks!

Congrats on the eggs. Are they all out or is there more to come?

thanks :)

she only laid 8 - but i read on the internet and apparently it is quite common for snakes to only lay 7-9 eggs in their first batch.

i've left her to rest for now - she looks knackered bless her!

when is she likely to eat again?

I don't know when she will eat again as i have no breeding experience but it may be worth just having a feel to make sure she has layed all the eggs.

I wouldn't trust this bit of info too much, my female ended up with 19 eggs on her first go.

I personally always offered a couple small prey items the day after laying.
Mine were normally on 2 medium to large mice, so got offered 2 small-mediums instead, just to give her something for now, but not to much.
Others do it slightly different and may only offer one prey item, but provided she's laid the eggs she should be good to go, especially as a lot of females may not eat for the last week or 2 of egg producing.
