Today was Elijah's feeding day and he constricted for the first time Normally he just grabs it in his mouth and scoffs it. But this time he struck at it, flipped it a couple of times then coiled round it. It all happened that fast I only just managed to get me camera out and get a snap. Think next time I will feed him out the faun to see if I can get a better shot.

Congrats. Isn't it great when they do that. Casper occasionally constricts and has done some pretty spectacular ones and Candy has a little go everytime i feed him. |

Some corns never do as they don't feel the need to. |

P never used when she small, but I started making her work a little for her meal (just tried to mimic the way a live mouse might move about) and she soon got the idea. I get a good strike and constrict every time now |

thats great - nice pic aswell since moving to london Lucien has suddenly become a fantastic hunter - he'll strike and constrict the small mouse really well..think he saw edison showing off how he constricts and thought he'd have a go all of ours strike and constrict (except aura obviously ) which is fun - zero is a real snappy little guy at his.. he likes to make it into a mousey pin cushion before finally keeping hold and constricting! |

Originally I was hoping that Elijah wasn't going to be a striker, but after seeing it, there's nothing more natural, so I look forward to the next one. Hoopefully he will do it for the camera, vid and stills.
Hannah, you'll have to get a vid Zero doing that, sounds like that Bengal cat vid posted on TR, lol. |

That is a fantastic shot Mick, especially considering how fast you had to react as you werent expecting it! It is lovely seeing him do what he would do in the 'real world' ! And you are right about his saddles, you can see the redness is a lot stronger.
It is definitely one of the benefits of feeding out of the viv/faun....you get so much better opportunities for photo shoots .
Kellog has never really struck properly, he will just lunge up and take the mouse - with dignity ....and I have only got him to coil a couple of times, if you could even call it a coil....it was more like throwing a couple of lazy coils over the mouse just to say 'This is mine!'. I think cos I got him when he was 4yrs old he has already got into a way of feeding and knows he doesnt have to do all that striking/coiling business to get his meal ....but it doesnt stop me trying!
Silvesta, on the other hand, can be quite vicious and has coiled to the extent where he has rolled around the RUB with the mouse wrapped in the middle of the ball of his coils .
Lets just hope they both start feeding soon so I can get back to experiencing it again - I do hate horny snakes !
