Hes stunning.
Like what you've done with the lid from the snake cave. Was the medium cave a little big for him? |

Hey Stewart
not a dope, the faun is the plastic box that youve got beetlejuice housed in.
very nice Faun setup , the only thing i would suggest is that you get a digital thermometer instead of the dial one you have got, the dial are unreliable and not particularly accurate. |

Another thing is that where it is placed, it is currently measuring the ambient temp, which is fine with IR/ceramic bulbs but with mats you need to be measuring floor temp.
Do you have a thermostat controling the temps? |

Beetlejuice really is stunning Stewart and it looks like you have done a great job with his faun....he has everything he needs - except the digital thermometer (have mentioned this in your welcome thread). Did forget to check whether you had a stat though....well picked up on Danny.
It is great seeing the pic of you handling him, it shows how well he is settling in .

Stewart, the stat does the regulating for you.
For a heatmat i use a mat stat. The stat plugs into the mains supply and the mat gets plugged into stat, there is a probe that monitors the temp, and when the set temp is reached the stat will cut off, then when temps get lower it will turn on and return the heat to reach the required temp. You would set the stat up based on the readings from the substrate (27-30 deg). It is a bit footery setting it up but once its done its done and you only need to keep an eye on it.
The stat is really necessary as if there is no regulating the temps there is a possibility that the heat in the faun will get too hot for your snake with possible health issues. |
