Hi all just a quick question, we have a 4 month old crested gecko was told to feed him on baby food and small crickets
Trouble is when we feed him crickets inside the viv he eats the substrate aswell, so we tried to feed him outside the viv and he wont eat them now 
Any advice or info as to how anyone feeds there's would be much appreciated

haha - Happy Feet; great name :D
if changing the substrate to kitchen roll or something isnt an option they you could try feeding out of a bowl :)
i did it with my Remy when i first got his coz i was paranoid about him eating things he shouldnt
just like bowls you have for hamsters (you might have to pull the crickets legs off to stop them jumping out) - that way you dont have to worry about the substrate or the crickets escaping into the trees or out of the tank and you can see how many your gecko is eating!

When Cresties are still young it's best to use kitchen roll in their enclosure to avoid eating substrate. The other alternative is to set up a natural terrarium with proper soil and live plants. You could also try the 'Repashy Gecko Diet' which could illiminate the need for live food altogether if you use the complete diet.
My Echo is housed in a natural terrarium setup and we use a combination of Repashy/baby food/locusts. I have lots of really small containers with various food in Echos terrarium, in different places so there's always food to find. We use locusts because they are slower and easier for the gecko to catch! Hope that helps a bit ;) |

| I used to put the crickets in plastic cups wedged in between something to keep them steady. The lizard can get in and grab the food, but the food cant get out as the cup is too narrow to jump out of (it just bounces back of the sides). |

| ha ha thanks its the only name i could think of we thought it was appropriate with his funky feet lol, changing the substrate would be a pain in the rump to be honest he has a type of mud (tropical terrain), i fed him in his tank the first day i got him he ate them fine but kept eating the mud and he couldnt shift it out of his mouth! so ive been putting him in a little clear animal container with the crickets and he just wont touch them which is worrying me, he is eating tho .i.e. lettuce, komodo complete diet, but not alot of it. i would give the pulling the legs off the crickets a go but he is on the smallest ones i cant even use tweezers to pick them up so i think pulling their legs off is going to be tricky and i already have 2 crickets loose in our front room some where lol. we are just worried that if we dont get him eating we will loose him |

i was worried that Margot wasnt eating when i first got her... 3 months later she is *relatively* huge, so i guess she was!
or like herriotfan said, you could just use CDG. Its much easier and it wont escape all over your house haha
Also worrying about the crickets:baby food ratio isnt a problem
