How can you tell if you are feeding your snake enough/ often enough. I think I am but i want to be sure and how to do you know when to get bigger mice and have longer between feeds? Any help appreciated.

I think it depends on the age/size/weight of your snake- if you could give that information then it may be more help?

Here is a Rough feeding guide that gets posted on here as well:

Snake (4 – 15g) = 1 Pinkie (0.5 – 3g) - feed every 5 to 6 days
Snake (16 – 23g) = 2 pinkies (3 – 4g) - feed every 5 to 6 days
Snake (24 – 30g) = small fuzzy (3 – 6g) - feed every 6 to 7 days
Snake (30 – 50g) = fuzzy (7 – 9g) - feed every 6 to 7 days
Snake (51 – 90g) = fluff/hoppers (7 – 12g) - feed every 6 to 7 days
Snake (91-170g) = Small Adult/Weaned (13-18g) - feed every 7 days
Snake (170g+) = Large (19 to 25g) - feed every 7 to x days
Snake (170+) = X large (350 +) - feed every 10 to x days

xXx

The feeding guide can be a big help but remember that it is only a rough guide. A snake can eat prey that is around 1.5x the girth of the snake at the widest point. Do not give your snake anything bigger than this, if after you've fed your snake there is no bump left then its time to move him up.

I agree with Danny. The bump is the better way to judge if you need to move him up. Spaghettino still has a bump after eating a big pinkie and he weights 18g.

Casper was on 2 pinkies well before she was 18 grams, she is now 22grams and the past 2 feeds i have fed her a small fuzzy which actually weighs less than the 2 pinkies she used to have.

I am about to do the same with Silvesta....he is on 2 medium mice and I will soon be moving him onto 1 large, which will weigh less than the 2 mediums.
