Wow..... brill pics (as always....grrrrrrrrr ).
How do you like the red-knees? Are they as placid as people would have you believe? The OH keeps changing his mind, one min he wants the B.smithi, the next minute it's the Chile Rose.
I can only cope with the idea of one hairy spider in the house, which would you recommend? xx |

Thanks for the comments bbsmog, I would definatly reccomend a smithi over a rosea, but only for looks. The temperament will depend greatly on each individual. People say that G.rosea are almost always docile and calm, yet I know a few people with crazy rosea's. My Red Knee is quite unpredictable. I used to handle her maybe once a week, if that. She was soo calm and chilled out. What I would do is gently tap her backside with a chopstick to coax her onto my hand. Then one day I went to get her out and she spun round and bit the chopstick, obviously wasnt in a good mood that day. Ive handled her sinse and she was fine again. So it really depends on their mood at the time. I dont handle her at all anymore though. Ive also found her to be a great display Tarantula! She has a hide but she never uses it, she's always out and about |
