so your temps are 2*C either side of 27*C.............its perfectly normal for an on/off type stat and perfectly well tolerated with corns but i'd turn it up a little higher so 29*C is in the middle and it will cut out at 31*C and kick in at 27*C

but ive got it set to about 33. the stat probe is under the mat outside the viv. i only have about 1.5cm of substrate on the hot end. hot can i bring the temps up. the stat is so confusing. becuz its a cobrastat the temp mover thing is a screwdriver one so it doesn't have an arrow were to put it. will have to play round with it more.

Ignore what the stat is set to, go by the thermometer.

go off the 'Max' reading as recorded on your thermometer (reset it a few hours before you take the reading) then adjust your stat as needed.

25-29 is fine imo

its fine how you have it, 25-29

don't worry about the cold side, unless you live in a barn and have to scrape the ice off your underpants in the mornings

Back to what you said about needing a screwdriver to change the gauge. I have a stat like that as well and if you look very closely in the middle of the bit you move to change it, there is a tiny little arrow. Don't know if that is of any help to you, probably not, but it's worth knowing anyway.

Ummm, yeah I had to do that this morning before work, Brrrrrrr!!!

RD, I have a Komodo stat like yours, there is no indication on the screw dial, so just move it till one end reaches max and that is your arrow, best you can do really. As Eeji said, cool end doesn't really matter, but a comfy cool end temp would be 21-23c

Dont get my OH started on this...he will tell stories about having to scrape the ice off the inside of his bedroom windows and breaking the ice inside the toilet bowl in the mornings before school!
