I took this video inside my beardie tank this morning at a nice fast framerate, so it could be slowed down.
This light tube is functioning correctly and properly and to my eyes was on and completely static.
The video shows how much they flicker.
Bearing in mind even the video doesn't show how rapid the flickering is, but you get the idea from the vid.

Worth looking at if you consider having a tube to light a snake tank. Imagine living with a lamp doing that all the time!! |

It's definitly what snakes see, well they'd see it faster than that.
As for lizards I can only assume that they dont. |

Does that flickerness only happen with UVB ? And can it blind your snake in anyway of form ? |

Has it been proven that snakes can see it? (or at least that they can see things with faster changes than us?) |

Thats quite worrying actually- think of all the people who have one... You'd think that they would develop epilepsy... |

Unsure as to whether or not it's been proven that snakes can see it or not, but I know my snakes seemed a bit more stressed when I had a tube light in their viv ages ago.

That rapid flickering happens with ALL tube lights, it's just we are unable to see it, it's far to rapid for our eyes. |
