Maybe it is because the warm side is a little too warm, it should be about 28 degrees.
Also, unless you spend 24 hours a day watching the snake for movement you will probably be missing the snake moving to the warm side, which i am sure it will be doing. |

Remember that they expect it to be cooler at this time of year too, so could just be mimicking natural conditions. |

My snake seems to prefer the cold end too.
I have got identical hides in hot and cold side.
She is always cold to the touch when i get her out of the cold end, is this normal? Im guessing if she was cold then she would go to the hot end?

I've got hides in hot middle and cold, and mine spends 99% of the time in the cold end, unless digesting |

Snakes are cold blooded animals, so they are always going to feel cold to you... it is perfectly natural and nothing to worry about. |

Cool, maybe we should stop worrying, lol.
She always goes in hot end to digest food, and stays there for a couple of days. Then she usually stays in cold end for most of the time.
Thanks

Worrying is understandable, it gets you nowhere though!
You just have to trust that the snake knows what is best for it and will move when it sees fit.
Also, the behaviour you describe about your snake after a feed is also perfectly normal. :) |

another reason a snake might prefer the cold end is to reduce symptoms of an RI (Respiratory Infection).............
(not that i want to get you worried again ) |

Gaz...as newbies, and corn lovers, and human beings, we cant help but worry.
Bio is right when he says that it doesnt get you anywhere but that doesnt stop us worrying...and it does lead us to ask questions (and drive the forum insanse sometimes!!). I bet even GP worries sometimes, even with all her knowledge!!

i do!! its true!!
one of my 'old boys' has a chronic recurring RI, he sits in the cold end a lot so i have to monitor him very carefully...... unfortunately i bought him with an RI years ago and despite trips to the vet it does keep coming back every now and again, there must be some underlying bug that the Baytril doesn't quite kill off, but most of the time he's fine |

See, even the experienced GP worries, which is a great reassurance to us newbies that we are not just being neurotic when we worry about our loved corns!
