We got him last monday and he was starting to show signs of hunting for food so decided to feed him this morning

Strange thing is he took his pinks fine but he didnt wrap himself around it like they usually do when you wiggle some food in front of them!

Is this normal? Im not concerned because he ate them both fine and seems content now, i just wondered, is it maybe because he's young? We wasn't told his birthday but judging by his size he's between 3 - 4 months

I have one that is 5months and constricts and one that is 3months and just takes the food lol!
I wonder if it depends on how the breeder fed them sometimes?

Its odd isn't it! I got him from the same store i got my king from and he was 3-4 months when we got his and when we fed him he constricted. Quite violently too for a small snake! He was like a stripey rocket and always suprised us!

Im not too fussed if he never constricts, his food is already dead so as long as he eats it we should have no problems [:d]

I think it just differs between snakes, between ages, between how they are feeling, between what they are used to...etc...

He is only small so if you just continue with the 'pinkie dance' to try to convince him that it is really alive then one day he may constrict...or he may not....

As you say all that is important is that he eats!!

some snakes constrict instinctively but others may need persuading
it just varies, i hvae 1 that usually either fully contricts or at least covers the fuzzy with his body but my other two have only constricted once and that was several feeds ago

as mentioned above you could just persist with the pinky dance when the snake has bitten the mouse so that the snake could think that he needs to do some more work to kill this mice lol
