This is the Bairds Rat Snake i picked up a few weeks ago.

It is a feisty little bugger and very fast!

The first 4 pictures were taken the day i bought it.

The next set are from last night.

Cheers, Dan. 3,4 and 7 are my favourite pictures. :)

Gmac, it is a little beauty, really started to get the metallic sheen to it now.

Cheers, Hillzi.

This is a Texas Bairds rather than a Mexican one, the texans are by far the nicer snake in my opinion. I have a picture of the parents here somewhere. Not my photo but i am sure it will be ok to show you.

The mother is the coppery coloured snake and the father is the purpley grey one... the colours are much nicer in person and they have a wonderful metallic sheen that the photos do not fully show.

Bandit is doing beautifully...never expected the metallic sheen, but it is really noticeable. Very interesting seeing the parents too,

Yeah, the metallic sheen is gorgeous if you just catch the right angle. It is so hard to see in photos at the moment though... it will become more obvious as the snake grows and sheds though.

This little one fed last night, 2 medium sized pinkies, it took wolfed the larger of the two pinkies down in about 10 seconds... and believe me, the pinkies were the correct size for the snake! It is just a total greedy guts. I am absolutely convinced that it would, and could take a fuzzy... but being only about 16 grams i am certainly not going to be trying it!

A few more pictures as well. haha

Would of been a contender for the cute contest!

It's weird how different the baby is to the parents - will his patterns/colourings change as he matures?

Cheers Hannah and Chrissy.

Kaz, all of the patterning you see on the baby will disappear and it will eventually develop rows of stripes while at the same time colouring up and getting a great looking metallic sheen. Photographs just do not do these snakes justice, they are really very pretty little things.

My one is currently in the blue phase of shedding so i will try to get some post shed pictures up as soon as i can after the shed.

looked back through the pics and i love the pic where you can see a greenish sheen on him - think its number 7 of the first lot

Yep, eventually he will look like his parents.

I am not sure which parent though so i just picked the hatchling i liked the look of most. If he turns out copper like his mum or more purple like his dad it really doesn't matter to me.

The pic with the greenish sheen is the one that best shows his true colours. You can see like a gold stripe going up the middle of his back in that picture if you look closely.
