Bella is almost ready to move up to her bigger vivarium, but I'm not sure how to secure the heat mat to the bottom of the viv. (She's in a glass viv at the moment and the mat is on the outside.) What's the best way to do it?

Neither of my mats are actually fixed to the bottom of my vivs, but they do have a hide over the top which stops them being lifted.

Yeah I have one wooden viv with the heatmat inside , this is covered by a very soft lino , I've also cut around the mat where the wire attaches so its a nice snug fit with no raised areas .

One last jump , that's all we have to take Holth .

You can use silicon sealant to stick the lino down.

I would'nt personally , you would have to at least cut it open if anything went wrong with the mat , could be a messy job and may have to be replaced .

If the lino is cut to the correct size there should'nt be a problem . I have a 3 year old almost , female blizzard in the viv with lino , quite a hefty girl and not once has she lifted the lino .

Mmmm... I have secured my heat mat with duck tape. I have about 1 inch of aspen covering the floor, and her wooden hide is over the heat mat.

I would get that out straight away, tape is a big no no with snakes.

If you use a bead of sealant around the edges you will still be able to pull it up if necessary and re-seal, with the added bonus of it being water proof - one of the main reasons not to have a heat-mat inside the viv!

My local carpet and flooring place, Cutwise Flooring, are brilliant.
Because they do Lino, I popped in and the chap there is gonna save me some offcuts.
If you only need small bits of lino, and aren't fussed with the colour then it might be worth popping into your local place.
