Okay so as some of you may know I'm getting the beautiful big boy tomorrow, at around 7pm ish with his viv.

There are some things regarding him that don't make me happy.

Snakey in question;

And his viv;

In there is two pieces of bark, a ceramic dog bowl and a piece of driftwood. Will be putting in there a plant, some cereal boxes, and give a peice of bark to Blaze. Have a change around.

Regarding the substrate itself - me and phil came to the agreement it may be wood mulch!? Can't be good? Thinking about how block the gap in the viv doors.

And its diet is 2/3 large mice 'depending on the size of the mouse' every 3 weeks..

It also does come with a habistat thermo.

The snake itself looks quite nice.

I would definatly bin the pieces of bark. You dont know what they have been near and what they may carry so you definatly dont want it anywhere near blaze.

The substrate looks like a product called carefresh which is made of wood fibre, its not something I would use. I would also bin that and keep in on kitchen roll for 2 weeks.

Well noticed, I didn't.

You also shouldn't have an issue with the gap in the door, the snake looks big enough to not be able to fit through the gap.

It looks like it has a plastic strip up on top of the hardboard back.
Get a piece of MDF cut to size and a couple of vents from your DIY store and change the back.

Well, I made him some hides, so far i've got a medium exo-terra cannabis plant (fake of course!) The log storm had, a cardboard box with a hole cut in it (removed the sellotape) and a plastic plantpot, i blitzed with boiling water, disinfectant, and sanded it down. I also have some sheets of cardboard I can arrange like slate.

Kitchen roll for subtrate and some extra cardboard just in case he's strong enough to move the door.

Thanks Solid, still owe ya £15 aint forgotten. Tad tough right now...

Vents I'll get when i can. what about his diet, any ideas?

Is the log storm had real wood or is it resin? If its real, I would bin it.

As for his diet, hes not skinny, I would give him 2 large mice every 10-14 days.

Binned the old storms log, and two peices of bark got him home. I couldv'e kicked the old owners heads in, no thermometer, not been cleaned in ages the poor fella stinks of pee.. Got the stat with no actual temperature dial. Heatmat is not covered with lyno either.

I tried to get the substrate out, but I was hissed and S'd at...

So leaving him at least 4 days then I'm gonna clean him out.

Pics in a while, letting him calm down. Poor little sod but he's in the best place with me.

As for vents, they seem to have some wierd plastic thing with holes in, the strip at the back. it's very firm in place and the holes are small, but plentiful.

it's a lovely snake, but the tank and the owners =

edit:/ it has been fed yesterday btw.. next mouse in a fortnight then

Yup! Not going to risk stressing him out poking around with the dustpan, lol!

Substrate, will be kitchen roll (got)
Hides, cardboard one and plastic plantpot (got)
waterbowl (got)
Decor (got one plant)
something to shed on - (not got)
digi thermo's (not got)
thermostat (got a poo one ;))
got some kind of ventalation which will have to suffice, things are incredibly tight.

Forgot anything?

I can free up the stat when someone wants to swap the stat I've got.. I don't need it, wrong type, otherwise I'd use it.

We don't have a drill Even if i did, I wouldn't be doing any drilling within the next week, 5 days at the minium, i know he's gotta settle in, but this will benefit him in the long run if I get in there and clean, the stench of pee is well, pungent.

that thing > http://www.livefoodsbypost.co.uk/habistat-mat-stat-thermostat-1421-p.asp

I don't like it, i can't set a temperature to what it heats to.
