cornflake is doing great. He is eating from the tongs. And has settled down niceiey but his thermostat kept turning
its self off so we took it out and now its nice and hot in there.
He loves being handled and we do it 2 times a week for a few minutes.

glad hes settling in so well

but one small thing.. the thermostat will turn off when the heat mat reaches the right temp - mine goes off at 31' for both my royals and corns without your stat how are you keeping tabs on the heatmats temp?

We keep checking the thermometer on the floor of the viv. It's a very basic heat mat and doesn't seem to have a lot of oomph! the temp kept going way low with the thermostat on, even turned up to its highest capacity, and particularly with the weather going colder and the heating off in the day when the family is at work/school it seems better this way. Cornflake still has lots of cooler space in the faun if he wants to cool down, including under his hide. We intend to get a better heatmat and thermostat soon instead. Do people think this is generally ok or would it be a good idea to get the thermostat back on quick smart? thanks Raz

personally id have the thermostat in - at least then if it does get too hot it will kick in, my heatmat can easily get up to temps of 45 without a stat
