Hiya! I had just put Hugo back after playtime last night and was rearranging his furniture with one hand while holding the lid with another, when quick as a flash before my very eyes he scaled the glass and escaped! I managed to grab him with my free hand before he got away, but I couldnt believe it! he is only 23 inches long and the glass tank is 18 inches tall! I put him back and secured the lid then this happened!.....naughty boy!!!
finally gives up!
And my cat and dog just so they don't feel left out!!!

ha ha cool photos.
Matty and Hawkeye beat me to it- take out the tape.
Also maybe replace the dial thermometer with a digital one, as the dial ones are rubbish and wont be taking accurate readings. x |

Kellog does that, we have front sliding doors and quite often he will try to sneak out when I am changing water etc, and the struggle to get him back into viv can get hilarious.....he has actually handcuffed me so I cant get him off and put him away! xxx |

do the dials read very cold readings or very hot readings? because my snake is very happy in itself but the dial in the HOT end say 21-23degC' |

Definitely remove the tape as you dont want your snake to get stuck to it lol! I would change them to digital as this will measure the temps of the substrate not the air! Snakes do not get heat from the air, but instead absorb the heat through their undersides, this is why it is important for the substrate in the hot end to be about 27-30C

All good points, if I were you, I'd tear that light out all together, snake doesn't need it, and it may annoy him, plus as tiggeroo said, snakey could get stuck and got a bad burn.
VERY nice explanation Chimp, I'm liking that!!
Defo remove tape too. It can rip scales off. |
