Hypo is short for hypomelanistic. It means reduced black pigment (melanin).

it reduces the black but some colours are heightened.. like my hypo lav is developing a gorgeous apricot shade of orange on her neck now which is because of the hypo

I'm sorry I can't help you identify your snake, but it's REALLY lovely. It's the thing I'm coming to love most about Corns; the incredible varieties. My snake Cinco's a Normal (I prefer the term Classic myself!) but I've got big plans to have a veritable rainbow menagerie of Corns!!

I think the best way to discribe a motleys pattern is to see it rather than say it if that makes sense lol
but it looks like a normal motley to me as it looks like a fully grown of 2 of mine
this boy is a motley het blood red, he has the proper motley pattern down his back with the stripes down his side

these 2 are also motley het stripes you can see the motley which is also joined in with a stripe like alot of motley does

and she is a motley to but her spots look like they,ve been dragged alittle lol shows how a little bit of het in the snake can change the out come

4 corn girls, 3 corn boy, 3 girl corn x rats, 1 boy corn x rat, 3 royal girls, 4 royal boys, 2 king girls, 4 king boys 1 common boa girl
And to pick up.....
1 butter motley boy + 1 girl

i think its most likely a hypo motley, but its also possibly a very pale normal motley. This motley pattern is called 'pin stripe' and has nothing to do with the regular stripe gene, its just another manifestation of motley.

as a comparison, this is my amel pin stripe:

Ok, so it's probably a hypo motley pinstripe?

motley has its own hypo effect so unless you know what the parents are then the only 100% way to know if its hypo or normal would be to breed to a known hypo and see what babies hatch

This is all so complicated! If I just call it a pinstripe then would that be accurate?

i'd go with normal pinstripe until i was 100% sure it was hypo or not to be on the safe side
