Agreed,
Selective breeding can bring in lovely results, with tampering with the animals. All the Corn morphs we have today are through selective breeding and so are Toyger cats.

Selective breeding can quite often bring in much better and longer living specimens as well, much better for people than modified creatures.



A few of my fellow students and some of the faculty were talking about this at uni last year. It would be sooooo easy for us to map the genome of a corn, royal, etc and then genetically alter an embryo to display certain traits. Almost like cut and paste on a computer. The sad thing is that there is probably somebody out there working on it right now.
