Hey all needing a little advice due to being new on the snake side of things. Im starting to feel a little bit nervous of cornflake because every time i change her water or try to go anywhere near her she seems to just to want to strike at me all the time, its making me a little bit jumpy. I put a small piece of cloth in her viv so she can smell my scent but its not seeming to work. I dont mind being bitten by her its the stiking thats making me jumpy Has anyone got any advice on this or a way of getting her to calm down a little

Only thing you can do really is keep handling regulary, and try your best not to be nervous. Snakes can sense when your frightened and they then in turn feel threatened by you.
Continue with the scent thing- maybe put something in with a stronger scent like a sock or Tshirt?
and handle at least daily for a few minutes until he gets used to you and knows you aren't a threat.
so they pick up if your nervous ? That may be my problem then. I've only had mine for a couple weeks but he is very resistant to being handled which makes sense if he is picking up that im nervous. Hes only a hatchling so im not worried about pain of geting caught but the fear i will hold him too tight because he is flighty and my automatic response is to tighten my hold which i know he wont like dont want to harm him. hes just so small and fragile looking
when i had herbie(carolina) he always looked asif he would strike at me he never did but my nerves were in tatters he now resides with my partner. i tried with gloves but that freaked him out. Hope someone here can give you adivce. Goodluck!

hi i also have that problem.it is only when picking him up it.Once he is being handled he is fine.i think it is because he is a nervous snake.Kazerella is absolutely right he only seems to do this when not handled regularly.i tried a glove but it made him more nervous.A trick i use is to show him one hand and quickly pick him up with the other.once he is picked up i run him through my hands as much as possible and he is fine.hope this helps
Thanks for all the advice guys i handled her with no problems this morning. I think i may know what the problem was her hot end of the viv was 34 degrees rather than the 30 degrees that it should be. Do you think this may of been the part of the cause people
