hey just a quick question, my viv is kinda bare. It has 2 hides a rock down the cool end and a bark sheet down the warm end. Does it need anything else? ive seen photographs of viv's with branches and fake plants. Is is purely personal what goes into the viv or does the snake need that little bit more?

Im also a newbie so wait for replies from a few more expirienced people.
Im guessing you have heating set up and how are you controling it. A water bowl in the cool end. A thermometer to keep an eye on the temps to make sure snakey isnt to hot or cold. Also what sort of substrate are you using.

most snakes will be happy enough in a RUB with a hide and a water bowl but i always like to make things as interesting as i can for them and its nicer to look at .

The only other thing you could have put in would be a branch, either bought or one from your garden, for your snake to climb - which they love to do. If you do use one from the garden, after you have cleaned it bake it in the oven at about 160oC for an hour to kill of mites/parasites and their eggs. xxx

I have fake plants, wall mounted branches, vines, stones plus all the basics in my vivs, I think it is nicer to look at, and I always try to make it as natural as possible for the snake.

As others have said, the vines, branches, stones, etc make the habitat look more natural as well as giving the snake some variety in its surroundings... Also corns love to explore their surroundings so once in a while swap a few things round and you will see your little guy exploring, climbing etc.
