So i was away at the weekend and i got back today first thing i did was got the skink out to give him a wee treat and got rid of any wee turds in the tank, i stay with my grandad and he didnt want to be putting his hand in the tank i think

anyway i noticed smethin wierd on the ground and looked at the skink
and the tip of his tail has come off i am absolutely gutted and have no idea why, it isnt retained shed and it looks like it was pulled off, the tip of his tail is hollow for a couple millimeters

the skink seems perfectly happy and has been eating out my hands and everything

i just havent a clue what happend, and my granddads not touched him

anyway will the tip grow back? it is only about half a centimeter
and what should i use to disinfect the end of his tail?

Hi, Keven.
Sorry to hear about Thompsons tail, at least its nothing too serious though.
Has he shed recently? Are you sure there was no skin left behind on his tail? If old skin was left on the tail it could have caused a restriction and that'll be why the tip has come off.
BlueTongues also have the ability to drop their tails as a defence mechanism, but I would imagine if that was the case, it would be a lot more than just the tip.

I know its a pain but you might want to take out all the substrate and replace it with newspaper to keep the tail clean.
I cant really advise you on what to put on the wound as I dont have the experience to say.
I think as long as you keep the wound clean, it will heal up by itself.
Would you be able to get a photo of the tail?

Hope it all heals fine
